Tara Group, which consists of Chasetown Civil Engineering, Cameron Homes and Keon Homes, has always been committed to providing continuous learning for its employees. This Learning at Work Week (12th – 18th May), Carli Gallier, head of people at Tara Group, discusses the importance of providing ongoing learning opportunities to provide career progression and build an engaged workforce.

“Continued learning is something we embrace, believe in and is part our culture. Our 90-strong Cameron Homes team, which makes up a big part of the 312 employees that work for the wider Tara Group, are all provided with the opportunity to grow and develop their roles with access to a wide range of training.

Learning at Work Week, which is led by Campaign for Learning, provides an excellent opportunity to reflect on the important role of ongoing learning within a work environment. In fact, during the week, we’ll be hosting live sessions as part of our Tara Academy, a group-wide initiative that provides our employees with opportunities for career and skills growth.

As part of the academy, we’ll be hosting a number of ‘lunch and learn’ sessions led by people from across the business, as well as a ‘Planning, Prioritising and Time Management’ session with an external trainer. All these sessions contribute towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for attendees, allowing them to accumulate CPD hours for their development.

Aside from the relaunch, we also provide our team with ongoing access to various online resources and additional training through our live sessions and our partnership with Cranfield Business School.

With the widely recognised skills shortage, as a homebuilder we have a responsibility to ensure that we’re continuing to invest in the future of the industry. Therefore, we offer apprenticeships across the Tara Group aimed at 16-year-olds who decide they would like to learn on the job. We also continue to run our successful graduate scheme, with a new cohort due in September.

We strongly believe that the people in our business are our most valuable asset and recognise that career progression is key to providing a nurturing and rewarding environment that allows them to grow and develop. It also allows us as a business to confidently provide the high-quality levels of satisfaction and delivery that we’ve become renowned for within the industry.”
