A thorough walkthrough
Take your time, bring a notepad, check every corner and ask all the questions you need to. Take note of the overall finish of every room; door hinges, paintwork, handles, and bring to attention any imperfections. We even offer a professional snagging service with a third-party partner, who can come and complete an assessment before you move in.
Test the essentials
A new home means that all appliances are new and ready to use immediately; however, it is recommended that you test them yourself to make sure everything is working smoothly.
The fixtures suggested to test are:
- Central heating
- Hot water
- Integrated appliances (oven, washing machine, etc)
- Light fittings
If you are unsure about anything, refer to your handbook or contact the customer support team, who will be on hand to support you when the big day arrives. And should you need them at any point once settled in, you can also contact our dedicated customer service team.
Locate main controls
Moving day can be stressful and busy, but it is still vital that you can locate the main controls in the event of an emergency. Make sure you can locate the:
- Stop tap
- Fuse box
- Boiler controls
- Smoke alarms
Give them a quick test to ensure you understand how they operate.
